My dear, dear friend

This is a truly remarkable woman. She’s gorgeous, yes, but that’s only outside stuff. She’s a dear friend, and one of those women who always has room in her life and her heart for others. We have known each other since our first born children were babies. She babysat my daughter for a whole day when we moved house. When my second baby came along she visited. But she didn’t just come for a cuppa. She MADE the cuppa. She brought food.

She got my washing off the line before it rained.

Like most selfless women, she is always doing things for others, and it is almost impossible to do something for her. So when she agreed to come an let me photograph her, I was overjoyed.

Here she is. The beautiful Sue.

Laughter, sunshine & running races.

FINALLY! A chance to put these family portraits on the blog! I hate to spoil surprises, and I knew that some of these images were destined to be Christmas gifts, so I held off on posting. And then…. well… Christmas and New Year celebrations, kids on holidays…. perfect days for the beach…. and here it is half way through January before they’re up.

We had lots of fun together exploring the park (well a tiny part of it anyway) and playing games. And there was even a marshmallow treat waiting for us at the end. Thanks Mum! (What brand were they Sharon? Haven’t been able to find them in the shops, and seriously, the yummiest marshmallows ever.)

Sharon and her family booked their session after winning a fundraising auction at their school. If you’d like to talk to me about fundraising for your school or charity, give me a call: 0419 69 69 23.

Or click here to drop me a quick message.

Remember, I’m in Pymble on Sydney’s North Shore.

Sharon - Thank you once again lovely lady! I know what you mean about life getting in the way of work over the holidays! Everyone we’ve shown the shots to absolutely loves them. And we’ve shown so many people, between Facebook and the iPhone/iPad app, I think some of our friends and family may be sick of looking at us!

The magic marshmallows (best I’ve ever had, too!) were from Martelli’s fruit market in Cherrybrook. I shall have to go and buy some more to find out the brand.

jen - Better make that TWO packets when you do, Sharon.

Rosalind - Beautiful job on the photos Jen, love the clarity in the girls faces – great background too. x

jen - Thanks Ros! It’s a really great park… photographer’s dream location!

jen - For those who are interested in marshmallows: They were from The Market Grocer (at Sydney Markets), so you’ll likely find them at your local fruit and veg shop. Thanks for the extra packet, Sharon. We all loved them, even my Dave.

And now for something completely different

I found myself with a couple of child-free days this week. Here’s what I got up to with the extra time I had on my hands:

Meet Susie. She’s a mum, too, and welcomed a day of pampering at my place.

Hair and makeup: Helen Sotis.

PS: Am I giving my age away with that title?

Amanda Keeys - She looks stunning! Gorgeous work.

jen - Thanks Amanda. That’s fine praise coming from you, one of my favourite photographers! (You know I hyperventilate when you stop by my blog, don’t you.)

love, J.

Rosalind - Woah! She looks AMAZING!!!!!!! Really lovely images Jen and of your other friend too! My favourites are these bottom two x

jen - Thanks Ros. All she needs is a few enormous flowers from you to set off her beautiful eyes and gorgeous smile.

DIY title

She’s a friend of mine. We hit it off immediately. We get each other, both working mums of young children with family support not so handy, and husbands in demanding careers. (Though at least I don’t have to get in an aeroplane to get to my family.)

He’s a quietly spoken guy, though get him going on people with Arts Degrees and the value of a PhD and boy, you can never shut him up!

😉

Hopefully he can take a gentle ribbing, too.

Anyway, here they are, along with their two gorgeous kids. Oh, and Dolly.

And the DIY title? Well, how many posts can you have called “Sneak peek | Sydney child and family photographer”? Honestly! How many? But could I come up with a witty title at the end of a long week? Nope. So it’s over to you. Leave me your suggestions in the comments.

love,
Jen.

jen - Thanks Andy.

Amanda Keeys - Ohh those kids are stunning! Love them all, SO pretty.

jen - Aren’t they gorgeous? Almost edible! These guys did an excellent job with getting ready for the shoot, and the kids were angels. Did everything I asked them to do, and we were all done and dusted in record time. Can’t ask for better!
